Henry A. Sweetbaum
In 1997, Mr. Sweetbaum co-founded and was appointed Managing Director of PS Capital LLC, an American company that advises and invests in companies in Asia, Europe and the U.S. He is also a Founder and Principal of Resurgence Partners LLC, a specialist in corporate regeneration and asset recovery, and a member of the Investment Committee of Accelerator Technology Holdings, a private equity firm based in Amman, Jordan.
In 2007, Mr. Sweetbaum founded the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence (ICSR), together with King’s College, London; The University of Pennsylvania; The Regional Centre on Conflict Prevention at the Jordanian Institute of Diplomacy and the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya. He currently serves as ICSR’s Chairman.
He has served on various Boards at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, including the Board of Overseers. He guest lectures at Wharton, and is a member of the Board of the SEI Center for Advanced Studies in Management. Mr. Sweetbaum is also a member of the Inovent Advisory Board, which is affiliated with Sabanci University, Istanbul, Turkey.
Mr. Sweetbaum is a member of the Turnaround Management Association, The American Bankruptcy Institute and a Companion of the British Institute of Management.
He was Chairman of Wickes International Corporation from 1982-1986, and in that capacity served as a key member of the team that successfully led Wickes Companies Inc. through the then largest non-railroad Chapter 11 in American history. In 1986 he led the management buyout of Wickes plc and served as Chairman and CEO until 1996.
Prior to joining Wickes, Mr. Sweetbaum engineered turnarounds and achieved financial growth for a number of private and public companies in the US, UK and Asia, including Data Recording Instrument Company, a computer peripherals manufacturer, owned by the British Government, which Mr. Sweetbaum chaired from 1976-1982.
